How can I make an informed decision about which private clinic to join?

At present Medicor Cancer Centres is the only specialized cancer clinic of its kind in Ontario. However, there may be non-specialized private clinics in your area. Before you subscibe to any private clinic, here is some valuable information which will help you make the right decision for your care:

1. It is important the clinic addresses your specific health needs.
2. Carefully review the list of services offered so you know exactly what will or will not be covered in the fees you are paying.
3. Obtain as much information about the frequency of access/use of specific services. Example: how often you would see your dietician (once a year only, or on a more frequent basis.)
4. Ensure information about the clinic's team of health professionals is readily available and provided to you.
5. Ask about the clinic’s patient satisfaction/complaint resolution policy.
6. Review the refund/cancellation policy. Be satisfied with the length of time you want to join the clinic.
7. If possible, ask a health care provider you trust to give an independent opinion of the clinic.
   Find out if they feel the services will be the right fit for you.
