Naturopathic medicine focuses on the promotion of health and the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease using natural therapies. Naturopathic doctors use a holistic approach to provide primary and adjunctive care to promote an individuals' self-healing process. They take into account the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social and environmental aspects to develop an individualized care plans for people of all ages. They use procedures and substances for diagnosis and treatment that pose the least harm to the individual. Naturopathic medicine encompasses a variety of modalities like botanical medicine, homeopathic medicine, oriental medicine, acupuncture, and many others.
Dr. Douglas Andrews joined Medicor Cancer Centres in 2008. He received his Honours Bachelor of Science degree from Queens' University, Ontario. He studied naturopathic medicine for 4 years at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, graduating in 2002. He is additionally certified in intravenous therapy and has a special interest in treating cancer and other chronic and degenerative diseases.
Dr. Andrews is a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors and is involved as a Teaching Assistant at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine where he teaches acupuncture and health psychology.
Evidence is continuing to support a multi-faceted approach for cancer treatment.
